Wales Holidays have a number of cottages and farmhouses in many areas of Wales that are a very close or within one to three miles or so of a railway station. So if you don’t have a car or wish to leave it at home, take the train!
For example, a cottage with swimming pool for two is within 2 miles of Bridgend station and there is another similar cottage, all on one level, at the same location.
First Great Western run the route out of Paddington with connecting services provided by Arriva Trains Wales. The 10.00 out of London Paddington will set you down at 13.35 Port Talbot Parkway, about 1.5 miles from a seafront house at Aberavon, sleeping seven; it is one of five on the promenade by the beach.
Neath is the next station west and within 3 miles or so are an exceptionally spacious, detached 5 star ‘cottage’ for 4, a 4 star pine lodge (one of two) sleeping 5 and a self-contained annexe for 2/3 in lovely gardens.
The Heart of Wales line runs out of Swansea and heads north; the 09.00 service from Paddington connects and you can arrive at Ammanford at 13.58; the station is about 2.5 miles from a two-bedroomed detached bungalow.
